A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurs on Saturday 13 October, 2581 UT, with maximum eclipse at 14:23 UT. The Moon will approach within 1% of the Earth's umbral shadow at maximum eclipse; 96% of the Moon's disc will be partially shaded by the Earth, with the overall eclipse lasting 4 hours exactly. While less dramatic than a partial eclipse (as no part of the Moon will be in complete shadow), a shading across the Moon should be readily visible to observers.

The penumbral eclipse lasts for 4 hours exactly. Maximum eclipse is at 14:23:58 UT.
