A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurred on Sunday 20 December, 1676 UT (10 Dec, 1676 Old Style), with maximum eclipse at 04:11 UT. In this extremely marginal eclipse, the Moon barely clipped the edge of the Earth's penumbral shadow. This caused a microscopic darkening of just 3% of the Moon's disc for 52 minutes and 54 seconds, which was essentially impossible to see.

The penumbral eclipse lasted for 52 minutes and 54 seconds. Maximum eclipse was at 04:11:27 UT.
