A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurred on 15 December, 1758 BC UT Old Style, with maximum eclipse at 17:40 UT. In this extremely marginal eclipse, the Moon barely clipped the edge of the Earth's penumbral shadow. This caused a microscopic darkening of just 17% of the Moon's disc for 2 hours and 6 minutes, which was essentially impossible to see.

The penumbral eclipse lasted for 2 hours and 6 minutes. Maximum eclipse was at 17:40:50 UT.
