A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurred on Tuesday 20 August, 1709 UT (9 Aug, 1709 Old Style), with maximum eclipse at 08:27 UT. This very subtle penumbral eclipse was essentially invisible to the naked eye; though it lasted 3 hours and 14 minutes, just 41% of the Moon's disc was in partial shadow (with no part of it in complete shadow).

The penumbral eclipse lasted for 3 hours and 14 minutes. Maximum eclipse was at 08:27:45 UT.
