A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurs on Sunday 18 July, 2494 UT, with maximum eclipse at 19:21 UT. In this virtually non-existant eclipse, the Moon barely clips the edge of the Earth's penumbral shadow; although the eclipse will last 24 minutes and 36 seconds, it will be impossible to see in practice.

The penumbral eclipse lasts for 24 minutes and 36 seconds. Maximum eclipse is at 19:21:22 UT.

Interactive Map

This map shows the visibility of the eclipse at maximum eclipse, when it will be visible within the bright area on the map. Note that the map is approximate, and if you are near the edge of the area of visibility, the moon will be very close to the horizon and may not be practically visible.

You can use the zoom controls to zoom in and out, and pan to see areas of interest. The green marker in the centre shows where the Moon will be directly overhead at maximum eclipse.

The interactive map is currently not available.
