A penumbral eclipse of the Moon occurred on 7 December, 1722 BC UT Old Style, with maximum eclipse at 14:28 UT. In this extremely marginal eclipse, the Moon barely clipped the edge of the Earth's penumbral shadow. This caused a microscopic darkening of just 3% of the Moon's disc for 53 minutes and 18 seconds, which was essentially impossible to see.

The penumbral eclipse lasted for 53 minutes and 18 seconds. Maximum eclipse was at 14:28:20 UT.
